Drilta is your personal outdoor gear lifecycle companion. We help you log your trail running shoes, backpacks, trekking poles, knee pads, and hydration gear, record wear, tear, and safety checks after every hike or run, and create beautiful inspection cards to track degradation over time and plan replacements before your next adventure. This policy explains how we handle your information to keep your data safe and transparent.
1. What Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to deliver our core gear tracking service to you:
Information you provide directly: All gear data you input, including gear type, purchase details, usage logs, wear and tear notes, safety check results, and replacement plans you create. This also includes any photos you upload to build your gear inspection cards, and account information (email, username) if you create an account to sync your data across devices.
Automatic usage information: Non-personal usage data like how you interact with our app, feature usage patterns, device type, and operating system version, to help us improve performance and fix bugs.
Location data (optional): If you choose to tag your hikes/runs with location to link to your gear checks, we only store that location data with your gear log on your own device or your personal cloud sync, and we never use it for advertising or other unrelated purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
All information we collect is used exclusively to deliver and improve our core gear tracking service:
To generate your custom inspection cards, track gear degradation over time, and send you reminders for routine safety checks and upcoming replacements, so you stay safe on your next adventure.
To sync your gear data across your personal devices when you create an account, so you can access your gear logs anytime, anywhere on the trail.
To improve our service: We use aggregated, anonymized data to understand which gear types users track most, what features are most useful, and fix bugs or performance issues.
To respond to your support requests if you reach out to us with questions or issues with our service.
We never use your personal data or your gear photos for advertising or marketing to third parties without your explicit consent.
3. Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal identifiable information with any third parties except in the following limited cases:
Trusted service providers: We work with third-party cloud storage providers to host your data and sync your account, who are contractually required to keep your data secure and only use it to provide services to us on our behalf.
Legal requirements: We will only disclose your information if required by law, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
With your explicit permission: If you choose to share your gear inspection cards or logs publicly or with friends via our app, that information is shared only as you direct.
4. Data Security & Retention
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. We retain your data for as long as you maintain an active account with us. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete all of your personal data, including your gear logs and uploaded photos, within 30 days.
While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Rights & Choices
You retain full control over your data at all times:
You can access, update, or delete any of your gear data or personal information at any time through your account settings.
You can download a full copy of all your gear data and inspection cards in a common format at any time.
You can delete your entire account and all associated data at any time, with no questions asked.
